Early detection of prostate cancer is the single most important advantage a patient can have against prostate cancer in the earliest, most treatable stages.

The PSA prostate testing kit, using dry blood-spot, provides a new level of convenience and effectiveness to ensure men receive this important advantage.

The prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test is a screening test that measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in a man's blood. PSA is a chemical made by the prostate, a sex gland located near the bladder in males that produces some of of the seminal fluid that carries sperm cells. Although the amount of PSA in a man's blood usually increases with age, higher-than-normal PSA levels can be one clue that cancer has developed within the gland. However, high levels of PSA also can be found in other conditions that are noncancerous, including prostatitis, or inflammation of the prostate, and benign hyperplasia, or BPH, which is an enlargement of the prostate which affects many older men.

The test procedure is simply a fingerstick, with blood applied directly to the collection card. The card(s) is then mailed to the laboratory in the provided mailer. Lab turnaround time is approximately 24 hours. Results are sent to the person tested and/or the person doing the testing, with directions for followup.
