What
is Infectious Vaginitis?
Infectious
vaginitis is the number one reason women
visit their physician. Vaginal discharge
and odor are inconvenient to the patient,
because these symptoms are often recurring.
Up until now, the microscope has been the
main tool, used by the physician, in diagnosing
many conditions. Bacterial vaginosis or
BV is the most common among the several
disease states known as infectious vaginitis.
QuickVue
Advance pH and Amines test is CLIA-waived
and intended for the clinical evaluation
of infectious vaginitis.
The
QuickVue Advance pH and Amines test contains
two qualitative, colorimetric tests for
use in the characterization of a vaginal
fluid sample: a pH test and a test that
detects alkali volatilizable amines in vaginal
fluid. Both tests can be read within 2 minutes.
In conjunction with the clinical evaluation
of the vaginal fluid, 3 of the 4 Amsel criteria
will be assessed.
